Welcome to HR Grapevine’s Guide to Learning & Development 2020
Navigating the coronavirus pandemic has been a challenge for all employers. To keep businesses afloat, some organisations have been forced to drastically reduce staff headcounts while others have furloughed employees due to a lack of work. And for this reason, it is possible that some employers may have taken their foot off the L&D pedal. But they shouldn’t.
In such a testing time, it is crucial that employers don’t simply press pause on critical employee development as this can help provide the company with the skills needed to survive the pandemic. This was supported by a recent McKinsey report Adapting Workplace Learning in the Time of Coronavirus which explained that employers can’t afford to put ‘capability building on hold’, whether this relates to reskilling the workforce or rolling out company-wide training to aide business transformation.
In 2020’s issue of the Guide to Learning and Development, we will explore how HR leaders can ace virtual L&D and chart the ways in which online learning is changing. In addition, this issue will look at the post-pandemic L&D trends that the people function should have on its radar.
As ever, enjoy!
