It seems that cybersecurity breaches are becoming increasingly frequent – and no department is safe.

Earlier this year ransomware called GoldenEye targeted HR departments with fake job applications; while Tesco Bank saw temporarily suspended all online transactions following the hacking of at least 20,000 bank accounts last November, with Yahoo falling victim to a cyberattack the following month.

The challenge with cybersecurity is, Greg Day, Vice President and Chief Security Officer EMEA at Palo Alto Networks has previously told us, “the difficulty of quantifying the potential impact to the business if they don’t make investments. 

“Rather than relying on indicators and metrics that are typically based on what happened previously, it’s important to use metrics that show your preparedness to both identify and respond to risks, as well as to act when the unexpected does happen.”
