A damning report has revealed the extent of the police’s whistleblowing crisis, with nearly half of officers unhappy about how misconduct complaints are handled.
The survey, conducted by the Police Federation of England and Wales (PFEW), gathered insights from of over 5,000 rank-and-file officers.
With 48% reporting their dissatisfaction with how their forces handled police-on-police misconduct complaints, it lays bare the damage caused when workers fear whistleblowing.
Moreover, it prompts all leaders to consider whether they are doing enough to create the right processes, structures, and culture that allow individuals to safely speak up about colleagues.
