A tribunal concerning disability discrimination and a return-to-office dispute has ruled in favour of HMRC, with the body set to be paid £20,000 by their former employee.
The case revolved around a worker who refused to return to the office after the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequently sued HMRC with “no reasonable prospect of success.”
Employment judge Dawn Shotter said the worker, Mr Martin Bentley, behaved “vexatiously” by filing his complaint.
HMRC wins return-to-office tribunal
Bentley’s employment at HMRC began in 2012. He had various health-related absences throughout his tenure, the Liverpool-based tribunal heard.
