Last week, we brought you the news that Canva gave 5,000 global employees the week off from their day-to-day work to learn new AI skills.

Cameron Adams, the design platform’s Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer, rightly branded it a “bold experiment in team development.”

Employees were able to ‘choose their own journey,’ with over 20 leadership-led panel discussions such as ‘Chart Your Path: Growing Your Skills and Career in an AI World’ and tool-specific workshops provided by the likes of Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini.

Separate streams of content delivered tailored sessions for tech-focused and non-tech-focused staff, and every last Canvanaut was asked to bring an AI-related idea to a two-day, company-wide hackathon.
