ASDA's new CEO faces major challenges

According to a tip-off leaked by This is Money and as reported in Retail Gazette, Marks and Spencer food Boss Stuart Machin looks set to become the next Chief Executive of ASDA, following the departure of Roger Burnley after three years in the role.

The This is Money leak allegedly confirms that Machin and Morrisons’ Deputy Chief Executive Trevor Strain are currently ‘top of the list’ of candidates being considered to snap up the top spot at the national supermarket chain, with Machin currently seen as the ‘prime candidate’.

However, regardless of who takes the title, the person filling Burnley’s shoes will have a tough time ahead of them, facing a myriad of challenges as a result of the ongoing equal pay battle taking place within ASDA’s ranks.
