Baby Boomers, Gen X and Millennials: what makes them happy at work?

Millennials - born approximately between early 1980s – 2000

Much debate has surrounded Millennials – they are 'entitled, narcissistic, self-interested, unfocused and lazy,' but it’s not their fault, according to Leadership Consultant Simon Sinek. After being asked by Business leaders about how to deal with this generation at work, Sinek decided to conduct research into their traits, concluding that they need to be nurtured in a corporate environment.

So, what does make this generation happy? Kaplan’s research found that younger respondents were significantly more likely than their older peers to apply for a “boring” job for better pay and work-life balance (66%).

However, these choices won’t keep them in their jobs for long – research by Udemy found that young Millennials (aged 21-24) are almost twice as likely to be bored at work (38%) than Baby Boomers (22%) and are twice as likely to leave or job hop in the next three to six months.
