Bridget Jones
Perhaps a less sophisticated choice, Bridget Jones kept her audience entertained through her famous diaries – and isn’t that the purpose of a publication such as Vogue?
Whilst it might seem as though she doesn’t have the eloquence and decorum quite associated with the magazine, Shulman herself faced fierce criticism and objection, with some saying that she didn't 'look' like an Editor of Vogue. The New York Times went so far as to say "she could also become better acquainted with a hairbrush".
Jones may not be the epitome of refinement, but she does have relevant experience, working as a publicist for a publishing company in London during her early years as well as being a personable writer.
