Apprenticeships are in vogue this year, according to Kate Methuen-Ley, Director and co-Founder of the quirky Danish brand, Flying Tiger.
The brand doesn’t just create edible looking home-ware appliances, eccentric toys both children and adults can enjoy or wrapping paper you’d love to plaster all over your walls - they’re also embracing new ways to develop incoming talent.
Speaking exclusively to HR Grapevine, Methuen-Ley, Director of Tiger Cardiff, the Welsh joint venture partnership of brand, he talks about how apprenticeships have inspired them to create local jobs...
“As a local small business, we always wanted to create in-house roles and functions, and therefore local jobs, rather than outsource. But with finance, this proved harder than anticipated, and we had a real task on our hands to find the right employee. I don’t have a finance background, and nor does my co-Founder Helen, so having confidence in our finance professionals is therefore very important to both of us.
