Motel One's Head of HR on launching a refugee integration project

Following a successful pilot project in Munich, design hotel chain Motel One is extending its refugee integration project to Berlin.

In March, five refugees from Syria and Afghanistan aged between 24 and 28 began a pre-apprenticeship work placement at five of the hotel franchises in Berlin.

The placements last six months and upon completion, there is an option to continue learning through a two-year hospitality apprenticeship.

During the training, each refugee will be paired up with a Motel One employee who will act as their personal mentor and will take part in internal workshops and training to strengthen intercultural skills.
