What HR can learn from scout leaders: 'The best unpaid job in the world'

“Don’t do it for the money. Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life.”

Steve Jobs, Co-Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Apple, knew a thing or two about melding professional and personal passion. And it’s the American entrepreneur’s quote that rings true for scout leaders too.

Speaking the BBC, Lynn Dredge, who leads her local Beaver group for six- to eight-year-olds, said it was “fun” that makes her role the best unpaid job in the world – a component that all HR departments would do well to remember.

“You're able to do things you would have as a child but with your adult's head on - you still get that level of fun," she said.
