Interview the interviewer: Heledd Kendrick, Founder and CEO at Recruit for Spouses

Military spouses have had to, in most cases, sacrifice their careers due to the nature of their partners’ work, which sees them relocate to different parts of the country, or even abroad, every couple of years. 

Heledd Kendrick, Founder and CEO at Recruit for Spouses, and winner of the Women in Defence Award 2016, spoke to us about how and why the business is dedicated to offering military spouses work opportunities, and showcasing their valuable skills to employers across the country.

“The military spouse is the default parent, constantly on standby for deployments and exercises that take their partners away from the home, leaving them to provide consistency in childcare, amongst many other things," she says. "This combination takes them away from their immediate support network and their career ambitions. It also, in the past, has discouraged potential employers from hiring them based on these facts alone. 

“We have created and built a community and  an award winning enterprise run by military spouses that allow our fellow spouses to regain their confidence, identity and independence by offering a number of services including, but not limited to, employment opportunities, bespoke CV management, networking events, mentorship programmes, educational workshops and webinars.
