Top businesses for employee engagement revealed

The companies who truly put their staff first were recognised last night at the annual Employee Engagement Awards.

The winners were announced at a ceremony held at the iconic Wembley Stadium, hosted by TV and radio personality Colin Murray.

Matt Manners, Founder and CEO of the awards, comments: “The world of engagement is evolving and creating positive change. We are starting to see more and more focus on engagement that benefits both the employee experience and the business bottom line.”

The event was in association with People Insight. Tom Debenham, Managing Director of the employee engagement specialists, says: “The Boardroom battle has been won – we all know that engaged employees drive business results and customer experience.

“What we are now beginning to see proven is the deep importance of engagement at work to lifetime wellbeing – which makes the incredible achievements of these finalists so much more important and inspiring.”

McDonald’s Europe, Tesco Bank, Tata Consultancy Services and Heathrow Airport were just some of the employers recognised for putting workforce engagement at the heart of their business strategy.

However, The Employee Engagement Company of the Year Award went to Virgin Trains (West Coast Trains), with both Camelot and Fuller Smith & Turner granted Highly Commended.

Calum Di Lieto, Editor and Head of Content at HR Grapevine, who judged the category, spoke of engagement at the event: “One thing that I have come to realise is that regardless of what you do, whether it’s Resourcing, Onboarding, Comp & Bens, L&D… every single one of you, everything that you do in HR, comes down to employee engagement. It is the foundation.

“Employee engagement is the ‘end’, where everything else is the ‘means’, and I think a lot of people forget that.”
