Managing benefits in a complex world
Managing employee benefit plans across multiple countries is a highly complex challenge for benefits and risk management teams. Unlike a domestic programme with a singular regulatory framework, healthcare infrastructure and somewhat predictable disease prevalence, a global programme compounds these factors across multiple jurisdictions. What drives claims in one market may be entirely different in another. What counts as standard coverage in one regulatory environment may be mandated, restricted, or simply unavailable in the next.
The factors shaping global risk
A range of local and global factors is driving and reshaping the global benefits environment, all of which must be considered in order to plan and develop an effective long-term strategy. Factors include: the structure of and shift in utilisation between public and private healthcare systems; emerging disease trends; ongoing geopolitical instability; how different generations access care; and the impact of inflation.
