Several reports have decried the impact Brexit will have on availability of talent in the hospitality sector. With the trade heavily reliant on workers from the EU, it’s vital that employers in this industry assess their talent strategies now.

Fortunately, Hilton, are one step ahead. The hotel and resort company have pledged to open doors for at least one million young people by 2019, by ensuring it connects, prepares and hires young people globally.

HR Grapevine spoke with Kay Harriman, HR Director at Hilton and Kathryn Porter, their Director of Youth Strategy to see how through apprenticeships, work experience and campaigns, the organisation is gearing up young people for work.

“Hospitality is the sixth biggest industry in the UK, and it’s important that we can raise awareness, not only as a brand, but an industry,” Harriman explained.
