Facebook is working on a new – and free - version of their Workplace software.
They plan to roll it out later this year and take on Slack in the process by getting as many users as possible onboard and, they hope, plant the seed of growth in large firms.
Facebook are confident this can happen for two reasons: firstly, they have two billion ordinary Facebook users at the moment; secondly, their current version of Workplace will be free until 30 September and then it will be cheaper than Slack.
Oh, and did I mention that Workplace will, according to Engadget, have bots that automate tasks such as ordering food for a long meeting or taxi rides for a trip to an event?
