Workforce flexibility is increasingly becoming a norm for engaged, future-proof employers – rather than a luxury only enjoyed by staff who work at pioneering firms.
Keeping up with employment norms, Asda, the Walmart-owned British retailer, has offered a ‘flexible’ deal to its staff – BBC reports.
The proposed contract changes, which Asda claim staff will not be forced to sign, will see wages rise to £8.50 an hour in exchange for Bank Holiday work requirements and unpaid breaks.
This means that staff must work on bank holidays if told to, and if they want time off it must come out of their 28-day annual leave.
