Arnold Schwarzenegger has left the American TV series ‘The Celebrity Apprentice’, following disappointing ratings. Previous host turned US President Donald Trump, was quick to accuse Schwarzenegger of letting the show down, saying that he “was fired by his bad (pathetic) ratings, not by me.”

The former body building champion was quick to mount a defence, tweeting Trump: “You should think about hiring a new joke writer and a fact checker.”

Schwarzenegger announced that he would not be returning to the show, claiming that links to Trump made the show suffer. “With Trump being involved in the show people have a bad taste and don’t want to participate as a spectator or as a sponsor or in any other way support the show,” Schwarzenegger commented, The Wrap reports.

“It’s a very divisive period now and I think this show got caught up in all that division.”
