This week celebrated music with the iconic Brit awards, saw Storm Doris take its toll on our commutes to work and had experts telling us to eat ten pieces of fruit and vegetables a day. Fences sees former African-American baseball star, Troy, (Denzel Washington), living in 1950’s Pittsburgh alongside his wife Rose, (Viola Davis) and son Cory. Hardened by his Depression-era upbringing, Troy emanates a bitter resentment about what could have been through his lengthy monologues, which tell the audience about his work ethic and responsibility, as a husband, father and man.
