National Payroll Week | CEO, CIPP: 'Payroll has never been more important'

Payroll has evolved from a largely operational function into one that can help employers shape strategy, navigate regulatory change and make better workforce decisions, according to the CEO of the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP).

Three years after taking charge of the organisation, Jason Davenport believes the profession is more important than ever as employers contend with artificial intelligence, increasingly complex employment legislation and growing expectations around workforce data.

“When I became CEO of the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) I had a clear ambition to strengthen the value and influence of the payroll profession and ensure it is recognised by employers, government and the wider economy for the critical role it plays,” says Davenport.

“Three years later, that ambition feels more relevant than ever.”
