'A path for everyone' | What is the 'Dutch-style' employment support being rolled out across the UK?

Young people across Britain are to receive employment support modelled on the Netherlands’ approach to preventing long-term economic inactivity.

Almost 180 new Youth Hubs are set to open as the government attempts to tackle the growing number of 16 to 24-year-olds who are not in education, employment or training.

The Dutch model combines early intervention with locally coordinated support, vocational education and close involvement from employers.

Known as ‘Jongerenpunt’ (translating to ‘youth point’ or ‘youth hub’), these hubs act as one-stop shops where young people can receive help with employment, education and challenges such as poor mental health or insecure housing.
