Many organisations introduced additional flexibility and wellbeing initiatives during and after the pandemic. Extra leave, early finishes, wellbeing days and enhanced hybrid working arrangements became common features.
But as economic pressures continue and businesses look to drive productivity, some employers are beginning to question whether those benefits remain sustainable.
Aleksandra Davidson, Senior Associate at Winckworth Sherwood LLP, said the recent decision by KPMG to withdraw its summer "Jump Start" programme, which allowed employees to finish early on Fridays during the summer months, highlights a much broader issue facing businesses.
"The move raises an important question for employers," Davidson explained to HR Grapevine. "How easy is it to withdraw a benefit once employees have become accustomed to it?"
