‘Targeted benefits’ | Worried about rising employment costs? University of Oxford's HRD has the answer

Over the past 18 months, UK businesses have been vocal about their concerns over the government’s plan to ‘Make Work Pay’.

Although some bosses have indicated a willingness to invest in their workforce, others have suggested that increased National Insurance Contributions (NICs) and National Minimum Wage (NMW) hikes will be impossible to absorb without knock-on effects on hiring, jobs, and rewards.

Meanwhile, employees continue to indicate they want more from their benefits packages.

Squeezed in the middle, these pressures have left HR, pay, and benefits departments facing an urgent need to deliver more for staff, without breaking the bank.
