Aldi has told thousands of staff they are set to receive a pay rise in less than two months, as it boosts compensation ahead of April’s national minimum wage increase.
The wage hike comes alongside an extension of maternity pay to 26 weeks, as the supermarket chain makes a “significant investment” in its colleagues.
From April 1, the national minimum wage will rise by 50p from £12.21 to £12.71 per hour for workers aged 21 and over.
Aldi bosses confirm pay boost
From March 1, Aldi will increase the starting rate for store assistants from £13.02 to £13.35 an hour, a 2.5% lift.
