These are costly problems for firms, and for the UK economy – in the latter case, to the tune of £63billion per year.
Accordingly, the root cause of skills gaps and the UK’s skills infrastructure has drawn attention, intervention, and investment from the Government.
But such reforms are early days. The jury is out on their potential impact, and, most tangibly for employers, these issues still rear their heads in everyday workplace frustrations.
