Pay equality | JPMorgan wins case against female worker who claimed she was 'underpaid'

JPMorgan has successfully defended accusations of sex-based discrimination put forth by a female analyst who says she was “underpaid” compared to her male counterparts.

An employment judge ruled that claims from the worker, Saidya Najeeb, that she suffered unequal treatment and retaliation were “not well-founded.”

Najeeb worked for JPMorgan for three years, and alleged she was discriminated against over an 18-month period from March 2022 to October 2023 before she moved to the investment bank’s asset management division.

Claims of unequal treatment at JPMorgan ‘not well-founded’

The worker first raised complaints with managers over her pay, claiming that her starting salary of £55,000 was roughly £5,000 less than that of her male colleague. She alleged the gap rose to £8,000 in her second year at the investment bank.
