Hands up, who’s keen for some behind-the-scenes content of a typical Monday mix of newsletter scheduling, article sub-editing, and flat white-slurping? Anyone? No? Fair enough.

But while not all jobs are overtly TikTok-able, employee-generated content (EGC) on social media is becoming increasingly trendy, driven by formats such as ‘day in the life’ or ‘come to work with me’ videos.

Employee-generated content – why so trendy?

Some posts keep things confidential, with users only including their job title, or referring to an unnamed ‘corporate job’ or ‘9-5.’ Others directly name their employer, though seemingly without permission or input from the company itself.
