A group of Amazon warehouse managers has published an open letter, highlighting concerns that heightened pressure over the Black Friday and Christmas period is causing a ‘severe and measurable’ impact on their mental health.

Levels of stress are such that some fulfilment centre workers have suffered breakdowns, the managers claimed.

The letter, sent to UK bosses and MPs, warned that Amazon risks breaching the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Working Time Directive over the busy holiday period.

According to the anonymous group of managers, pressure to meet demand means warehouse staff are frequently forced to work beyond their allotted hours.
