‘Save someone’s life’ | Amazon trains over 18,000 staff to spot the signs of human trafficking

Amazon has given over 18,000 employees specialised training to help them spot the signs of human trafficking.

In a blog post on its website, the e-commerce giant revealed how it gives transportation workers the skills to recognise and report possible instances of human trafficking.

Amazon’s Director of Human Rights and Social Impact described the programme as a “powerful tool” to combat human trafficking, with the company rolling out further 30-minute training sessions for its wider global workforce.

The UN defines human trafficking as the “recruitment, transportation, transfer, harbouring or receipt of persons by means of threat, or use of force, coercion or deception…to achieve the consent of a person having control over another person, for the purpose of exploitation.”
