“Things I’m sick of hearing from my employees”, the whiteboard read.
People scrolling through social media, accustomed to seeing CEOs airing grievances about their workforce, prepared to roll their eyes. The list on the whiteboard seemed to confirm their suspicions: "Can I leave early today?" "My child is sick, can I rush off?" "I’ll be late in the morning."
At first glance, it seemed like another out-of-touch boss, demanding constant presence and productivity with scant regard for work-life balance. But a quick look further into the full message revealed a very different intention.
“I don’t care,” Rob Dance wrote beneath the list. “I hired you for a job, and I fully TRUST you to get it done. I don’t need you to account for every single hour.”
