Happy New Year!

Now the last of the fireworks have fizzled out and we won’t have to hear the word Hootenanny for another 12 months, attention turns to those pesky resolutions.

Did you make it past day two of Dry January or cave on the first Friday night? Perhaps you’ve already downloaded and deleted Duolingo after the crushing disappointment of misremembering all the basic French phrases you learned in school? Maybe you’re already knee-deep in a couch-to-5k programme or have transitioned seamlessly from nervous gym newbie to a seasoned squat sensation.

The cynic in us all could easily say that these resolutions are arbitrarily timed or long-overdue changes to bad habits. The optimist might say they are heartwarming affirmations of the human spirit and indicative of our drive to do better and be better.
