Lessons from Leia | Planning leadership development in 2025? Consider these often-overlooked traits

Planning leadership development in 2025? Consider these often-overlooked traits

Everybody has a leader they look to for inspiration.

It might be a current or former manager who suited your work style down to a tee; a well-known boss in the public spotlight who demonstrates admirable leadership qualities; or even a fictional leader from a film, book, or TV show that offers inspiration on how to act, behave, and motivate.

Countless traits unify these ‘good’ or ‘effective’ leaders. Take my old boss Evan Santi, England manager Sarina Wiegman, and Star Wars hero Princess Leia, for example.

All three are great communicators. They know when to take responsibility and when to delegate or trust others to do what needs to be done. They aren’t afraid of having the difficult conversations when they’re needed.
