Research published by the Trades Union Congress (TUC) has found over half of LGBT+ workers have suffered bullying or harassment at work, prompting industry experts to call for change.
According to the study of 1,001 LGBT+ employees by the TUC, more than one in two (52%) of LGBT+ staff said they have been on the receiving end of the abuse.
Younger workers are particularly vulnerable to homophobic, biphobic, or transphobic attacks, which range from physical violence to verbal threats and intimidation.
With high levels of abuse so high coupled with a low propensity from victims to report the incidents, the TUC says employers must improve their practices when dealing with LGBT+ bullying, harassment, and discrimination.
