An Olympic medalist, who won in the 200 and 400-metre freestyle swim, is one of many athletes who have complained about the conditions of the participating athletes' living quarters, including poor food options and cardboard beds.
“It probably wasn't the time I thought I was capable of, but living in the Olympic Village makes it hard to perform,' Ariarne Titmus said in an interview.
“It's definitely not made for high performance, so it's about who can really keep it together in the mind.”
The Olympic beds at this years’ Games have been the centre of some controversy – with them being single beds made out of cardboard and with polythene mattresses – in order to be environmentally friendly and prevent athletes from having sex.
