The UK must urgently address its skills shortage or risk lagging behind its international competitors, a new report has revealed.
In the study from recruitment firm Hays, a large global dataset using job adverts and candidate profiles from 31 countries was analysed, looking at five sectors – tech, engineering, manufacturing, life sciences, and financial services – and how well these industries are adapting to digital transformation.
Britain was ranked among the top five countries in the report facing a shortage of talent across its domestic businesses, alongside New Zealand, Switzerland, Canada, and Portugal.
Technology and banking were reported to be two of the industries facing the biggest skills gaps in the UK when it comes to having the skills to adapt to digital transformation.
