There are many ways to dress for work. This has been especially true after the pandemic, when the boundaries between professionalism and personal life became blurred and wearing pyjama bottoms became a standard protocol for many.

Workplace attire is an opportunity for employees to express who they are. And in many cases, this expression can subvert what we have traditionally perceived as appropriate dress for work. Long gone are the days of high heels and button-up shirts.

Employers can only influence what their staff wear through office dress codes. But for the most part, staff have complete control over how they choose to personalise their outfits, and how they want to be perceived, on a physical level, at work.

The latest ‘office siren’ TikTok trend, which is characterised by dressing in a femininely sleek, sophisticated, and sexy way to work, has raised some questions around the appropriateness of sexy workwear.
