As an employer, you have a duty of care and responsibility for your employees whilst they're at work.
Most employers grimace at the thought of their staff hurting themselves on the clock - from a business perspective, this can lead to employees needing valuable time off work or firms forking out compensation which can be costly.
In recent news, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) said it paid over £100million compensation for incidents impacting their personnel and civilian staff. These injuries included the likes of dog bites, sports-related injuries, and perforated ear drums from jet displays. One civilian staff member filed for compensation after hurting their shoulder carrying their laptop on a train.
For an organisation like the MoD, the majority of these types of injuries happen to their military staff. Thankfully, most businesses aren’t at risk of experiencing this kind of avoidable injury, especially amongst office staff who spend most of their time at their desk – right?
