The Flexible Working Bill - what HR needs to know

The Flexible Working Bill, effective from Saturday April 6, 2024, heralds a transformative era in employment practices, offering employees unprecedented rights to request flexible working conditions from the very first day of their employment.

This legislative leap is a reflection of evolving work-life balance priorities and the changing landscape of work in a post-pandemic world. It aligns with the aspirations of a workforce increasingly valuing flexibility over traditional office-centric models.

Understanding the Flexible Working Bill

At its core, the Bill allows employees to make flexible working requests from day one of their employment.

Workers will also be allowed to make two flexible working requests within a 12-month period, marking a significant shift from the previous allowance of just one request.
