The phenomenon of 'loud quitting' isn't going anywhere, here's why

We’ve all heard about quiet-quitting, A.K.A an employee sticking in their role beyond the point at which they should have likely resigned, but instead choosing to mentally check out and do the bare minimum.

However, whilst HR does indeed need to be aware of this ongoing issue, another trend, fuelled by the social media platform TikTok, is taking the internet by storm – loud quitting, in the form of ‘QuitToks’.

What is ‘QuitTok’?

In short, ‘QuitTok’ is a phenomenon in which workers very publicly (often recorded for social media clout) quit their jobs, and post the results on the social media platform TikTok. The ethos behind the move is that workers are no longer uncomfortable or embarrassed by the prospect of quitting.

In fact, many seemingly feel empowered by their ability to take control of their careers and publicly denounce the companies that they believe weren’t invested in their wellbeing.
