Leap year pay loss | Should employers compensate staff for the 'extra' day?

Should employers compensate staff for the 'extra' day?

So, here we are thanks to the Gregorian calendar which gives us the anomaly of an extra day, once every four years.

If it’s your birthday, you’ll be celebrating in quadruple fashion, as a ‘leaper’ or a ‘leapling’ and according to Irish and Scottish tradition it’s the day that women can propose to men, if that is they wish to abide by folklore.

The ‘additional’ extra of today is thanks to the sun not being as exact as orbiting the earth in 365 days. The actual 365.242189 days, or 365 days, five hours, 48 minutes, and 45 seconds it takes, equates to the extra day being allotted every four years.

What this means for employers is something of a conundrum because today technically employees are working for free.
