Half of workers are frustrated because their organisation offers few opportunities for career progression, a new poll suggests.
The research, which was conducted by the Association for Project Management (APM), an industry body for the project profession, and reported on in the Independent, found that 19% claim that their job offers no opportunity for training, meaning they’re unable to upskill or move out of their role.
Further, nearly one-third of respondents said they have “secret skills” which they don’t use in their current role. As many as four in ten - 40% - believe they have “hidden” leadership skills, 39% communication skills, 38% project and time management skills, and 32% teamwork skills.
Unsurprisingly, more than 53% of respondents were looking for new roles that better fit their skills.
