In an exclusive article for Grapevine Leaders, Dan Finke, Managing Director of IRI UK, asks: in an environment where agile working is a major point of difference, is your business optimised for it?
Productivity has, for a very long time, been tied to the office – seeing a worker at their desk, 9-5, Monday to Friday. Over the last couple of years, we’ve all discovered for ourselves that work can be much more flexible and can deliver better results in the process. Many of us have started to realise that the old methods weren’t perhaps as successful as we thought.
It may still have its naysayers, but flexible working has been proven to boost employee satisfaction, morale and productivity. It also encourages an outcome-focused culture by taking the legs away from presenteeism and intensifying the spotlight on the quality of work produced. You don’t need me to tell you why that’s good for business.
As the world has now reopened post-Covid, the onus is on businesses to build on this shift to an outcome-focused culture. That requires providing the flexibility and environment for your workers to complete their tasks in the most appropriate and effective way – be it a piece of work that requires collaboration, or one that needs you to get your head down. Enter agile working.
