The gap between the earnings of top bosses and employees has always been a widely reported on topic in the world of work.
There have been times where the gap has narrowed, such as in 2021 for example. Previous research from The High Pay Centre – and reported on by the Financial Times – found that the gap between chief executives' pay and the UK average earnings narrowed due to scrapped bonuses and heavier scrutiny on leaders’ finances.
The gap could widen
More recently, however, new research has suggested that the gap between the pay of company execs and workers is set to widen this year – the BBC reports.
This is according to new data from The High Pay Centre which has suggested that the gap will widen in 2022 after it narrowed during the coronavirus pandemic.
