With Christmas and the end of the year fast approaching, many staff will be feeling burnt out and ready for a rest.

As one Chief People Officer said last winter: “When you combine cold weather, continuous anxiety due to renewed restrictions and concerns over job security, productivity, you have a recipe for low morale and burnout.”

Indeed, as Peakon research found last year, burnout levels hit almost half of employees as they staggered to the finish line of 2020.

The same looks set to be similar this year – although staff might be less concerned over their job security - and with a change in the talent marketplace, the Omicron Covid variant and new mask guidelines both employees might be worried and looking elsewhere and employers will likely be fretting over how to keep hold of their burnt-out workforce.
