With today’s top story focusing on one firm who have created a more collaborative approach to the position of CEO – sharing the traditional responsibilities of one person between a group of five – Grapevine Leaders wants to share some firms who took different approaches to the role of CEO.

Netflix, the firm synonymous with streaming content, aren’t just helmed by one CEO but two. Reed Hastings is co-founder, chairman, and co-chief executive officer of the streaming service that launched in 2007 and in 2020 he was joined by Ted Sarandos who joined the company in 2000.

This move seems to dovetail with up-to-date research on CEO life. Findings from the American Psychological Association suggest that having a single CEO at the top is simply too much. The modern business landscape is too fast-moving and the demands on a CEO have become too innumerable for a single person to set an organisation’s strategic direction.
