Most in HR will know how the pandemic has hit women. The impacts of Covid-19 have disproportionately pushed them out of work and into poverty.
Its undeniable that – as these women are overrepresented in areas of the economy that have been most effected, hospitality and food services – many are now having decades of progress in employment undercut.
According to ONS data, women were more likely to be furloughed as well as picking up the lion’s share of unpaid household and childcare work – something likely to have an impact on in-work performance.
This of course can hit confidence – with many, perhaps, internalising the impact of the pandemic and blaming themselves for lost jobs, lost pay, or lost opportunities.
