It’s undeniable that modern workers are largely treated better than they were even a decade ago. Whilst those working in Silicon Valley tech start-ups were known to receive lavish benefits packages, flexible working arrangements and a greater attention to overall wellbeing, the average worker perhaps saw these things as unrealistic expectations outside of the Google-esque bubble.
Yet things have changed. In the modern competitive talent-driven marketplace, where gaining valuable internal skills through new hires is a must, competitive compensation and benefits packages are a staple of any sensible offering.
But some leaders are arguing that businesses have gone too far in dishing out such perks. In fact, last week AnyVision CEO, Avi Golan, a former Google Director and Operating Partner at tech investing giant SoftBank, took to LinkedIn to share his views on the current state of worker compensation – a situation he deemed ‘madness’.
"I'm calling all CEOs to stop the hiring madness before the bubble explodes," Golan wrote, as reported by Vice. "This new generation of young [workers] needs proper guidance, and we need to be responsible to teach them career fundamentals.
