Following a year of extreme pressure on those who head up businesses, leaders are increasingly burned out. According to Paula Allen, Head of Research and Wellbeing at LifeWorks, "leaders simply cannot take it anymore".
As a result, half are currently considering quitting, to escape from the 'trauma' that they are currently experiencing.
But is there a solution? One workplace expert believes that one key change could lead to a better future.
We know, from studies such as Ipsos Mori’s November 2020 report, that coronavirus-related burnout is currently a massive issue among the UK workforce. 70% of workers in the UK say they are finding it harder to stay focussed and motivated to work, with a further 62% noting that they already recognise the more extreme calling cards of burnout in their own wellbeing. Innumerable findings, like the ones above, have ascertained to what extent the crisis is affecting employees, and it’s been a key talking point in the professional sphere for 18 months.
