Prime Minister Boris Johnson has confirmed that the scrapping of coronavirus lockdown measures – which were set to take place on June 21, 2021 – has been delayed by four weeks in England.
In a televised national address on June 14, 2021, it was announced that the last step in the Government’s ‘roadmap’ out of lockdown is now set to take place from July 19, 2021.
This final step, according to the Mirror, should have seen the removal of most remaining restrictions in England.
Johnson said that the spread of the Delta variant resulted in them being “faced [with] a very difficult choice”.
