Diversity has been in the news again of late. Rightly so.

The Guardian reporting found that the pandemic had disproportionately affected black workers during the pandemic – with more than 40% unemployed, three times worse than white workers of the same age.

Additionally, there were many challenges to a recent report from the Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities – with critics using the moment to argue that structural and institutional discrimination still exists, and there needs to be more done to combat it.

It is on this backdrop that HR Grapevine spoke to Kanya King CBE, Founder of MOBO Awards, an annual celebration of music of black origin which has honoured the achievements of Idris Elba, Steve McQueen, Skepta and Stormzy among countless others.
